Bar to check on Dante. Onyx, QL, Mobius. Stone on rooftop near by. Dante Awesome magician, cup and balls and so on, close up table magic. If hired for a wedding can make the bride disappear Joke. Got his card later on.

Ordered food, tortured Stone with how good it was while he was still on rooftop even though they did not have food and drinks yet.

Commotion.

Huge zombie bunny outside, obviously part of lab experiment gone bad. Surrounded by and guarded by human zombies, dressed in formal attire. They did not attack unless attacked, but Bunny was causing property damage by being a bunny and hopping around. Got scared by car alarm and tossed car. Old lady almost got hurt, Mobius convinced her to evacuate the area.

Fight ensued. QL saw magic over a building top, green and blue. Mobius used the downed cable to zip through zombies. Attempts by guys made to ride the bunny. Onyz used lucky pearl and did her tech vodoo to help taking down zombies.

Team split, guys on the bunny's trail as it headed for downtown and ladies to the cemetery.

Bunny gets killed and Val shows up to see this crazy in person. Val and Mobius do self-promo selfies and pics of each other while waiting for the zoo to clean up bunny.

Meanwhile, QL gets to the cemetery a few blocks away where magic is happening.  Dead magician animating and controlling zombies, surrounded by a protective hoard of them. Guy says he has everything he needs, is using ancient not old, ancient forbidden magic, that is all QL can deduct. GL tries to blast him with fire, it is nullified. He says he has been prepping to meet her, she assumes his is getting ready for them all and decides she will act in a random, unlike herself way when the big fight comes. Onyx gets there right after the guy walks into the ground.

Onyx investigates and gets low down on who dead master mind is. Work with cops, many graves dug up, cops uneasy around GL is dragon form. Onyx investigates more and realizes this dead magician is related to the guy who willed her his things, his daughter brought them into her at the reception of base in a prior session.

Team gathers at base, talk strategy.

DE told QL who he is, Larry. they are breaking up so they can date at some point during the session or surrounding session.

Session 19 - Meeting Mechastar
July 17th, 2017

Turned out to be an interesting month.  I got to meet Mentor, Daedalus, Mentor, See the Citadel, as well as meet a very interesting group of superheroes. (Mental note, I am going to head back to the citadel and look at that amazing Tech that's there.)

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Eric – Mechastar
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant – Still in his catatonic state

NPCs of Note:

  • Daedalus

Mechastar's Point of View:

The group needed a pilot for a mission, one might say this was fate if you believe in that sort of thing.  The combination of their need and my ability let me join for one heck of a ride.  Daedalus introduced the team, the Oz-Guardians,  as Stone, Mobius, Onyx, and Qing Long.  Their fifth member, The Elephant, didn't join us, which is a shame, as he seems quite interesting.

The mission was to rescue refugees that were abducted from the Oz-Guardians themselves through subterfuge on behalf of the enemy, the Grue.  Apparently Grue are able to shapeshift, making them difficult to spot, and easy to be tricked by, can't blame the Oz-Guardians for falling for that it.  Their situation was apparently a dire one, and they were trying to help the refugees as much as possible.  Daedalus gave us a ship to use as a decoy to get on the Cal-Van, the ship used by the Grue to capture refugees.

I piloted the ship to the last known coordinates of the Cal-Van, shut off the engine, and we waited.  Nothing happened.  Onyx got on comms, and sent out a distress signal, which did work, luring the Cal-Van to us.  They instructed us to dock on a side port, which was easy enough with thrusters.  Once docked, the team waited to pounce when the enemy opened the airlock.

The air lock opened, with three men standing there, looking to size up the ship, and to "render assistance".  One of the men, which the crew apparently knew was armed with a rifle, the other two men had holstered side arms.  The Oz-Guardians attacked.  Mobius attacked the man with the rifle but seemed to do little.  Qing Long breathed fire, which was both un-expected and VERY cool!  Unfortunately, her attack went wide and started a hull breach.  With some quick hacking, I was able to close several bulkheads to prevent depressurization.  Stone destroyed one of the other guard's side arms.  Onyx's attack seemed somewhat effective.  The final guard's shot went wide, guess he was pretty scared.

As the fight progressed, the two guards with the sidearms were incapacitated (after stone destroyed both their guns), and the "guy" with a rifle triggered an alarm,  turned red, grappled Mobius, then (releasing Mobius) turned to goo to escape when he realized that he was going to die.

Having heard to the Grue before, I know that they were dependent on Nitrogen in the atmosphere.  I suggested we split up, one group heading to the bridge to commender the ship, while Ii and another member headed to life support to hinder or stop the Grue.  Stone chose to come with me, and let me tell you, the dude can fight.

We came across six drones, Stone taking three of them out in what appeared as a single strike.  I was able to take down two with well-placed shots.  The final drone's chest started to pulse red.  Stone grabbed him and started to run towards the airlock we had just left while telling me that the pulsing red thing is a bomb.

I plunged my fist into its chest, grabbed the bomb, and then proceeded to disarm it.  Stone looked both disgusted and amazed and what he just saw, proceeding to tell the rest of the team what I had just done.  Afterwards, I used my X-ray vision to see how many obstacles were in our way.  The path the life support was clear, but a Grue was running to the cargo bay, where the refugees were being held.  I asked stone if he was confident in taking out the lone Grue, to which he said "yes".  We split, and I headed to life support.

I arrived at life support, and with minimal difficulty I was able to reduce the Nitrogen content in the air to about 45% (The lowest they system would allow me), raising a few other gasses to compensate and prevent the air from being too thin.  I strongly suggested no sparks.

About this time Stone reached the Grue who was heading to the cargo bay, which was actually waiting for him.  The Grue told us to cease all hostilities, or they would harm the refugees.  That there were undercover Grue with the refugees, and that their deaths would be on our hands.  Stone continued to talk with him a bit, while I took in upon myself to prevent that from happening.

I decided to bypass all the safety protocols on the life support system, a feat that I must say was pretty impressive, (let's just say it was damned hard), and reduced the nitrogen content in the air to 0%.  The Grue talking to stone fell asleep mid sentence.

Upon entering the cargo bay, the group saw the refugees beating the crap out of the unconscious Grue.  I headed to the bridge to change course, and assess the overall situation (hull breach, and state of the ship).  During the return trip to the Citadel, the group spaced the Grue, seeing as they were drones, and not really sentient life.

At the Citadel, Mentor mentioned that they weren't able to take on so many refugees.  The group decided to leave the Cal-Van with someone they knew who was a refugee and let the Sentinels find a home for them.  There was initial talk about bringing them to earth, but too many unknown variables with alien pathogens made that too big of a risk to take.  Gailen was invited to join us though.

We took the decoy ship home, which lasted the two-week trek home, but just barely.I'm glad though, means I can delve into this tech, which looks quite interesting.  We landed in their hangar, to a bunch of people welcoming them back.  Looks like press of some sort were taking their pictures, so I just chose to stay on the ship until they left.

After the press left, I debarked the plane and watched all the drama unfold.  This group was obviously missed, their loved ones happy they returned, and angry they disappeared in the first place.  It was nice for the most part.  Then I made an ass of myself…

Ultra-Marine came to talk to me, asking a few too many probing questions.  It was obvious she is very smart and was trying to figure out who I was.  In turn, to put her on her heels, I asked her "Did they catch the Capitan's murderer yet?" beating around the bush that I knew who she was.  Her reply was short "No, my brother is still free"  I offered my assistance to catch him, having realized I put my entire leg in my mouth, but she was already turning to leave.

Qing Long then surprised me with an offer to join the team.  I am very much inclined to join them, they are reckless but determined to do good.  That's something I can get behind, and it sounds like a hell of a lot of fun.

I wonder if they'll be surprised to find out who I am…

Qing Long's Point of View:

Mecha: Black Blue Suit, armored, Hair shows through outfit, Full frontal face mask, gadgets all over his body.

Two weeks in the ship to get home.

Mecha seems a man willing to make extraordinary sacrifices when needed, adventurous, competent and we are a man down.

Session 18 - Port Hopping
July 13th - 16th, 2017

Stranded aboard "Gailen's Pride" with several refugees after the destruction of Magna-Lor. The Oz Guardians think the situation is bad, especially with the ship having a busted hyper drive. But, they are going to find out how much worse it is.

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant – Still in his catatonic state

NPCs of Note:

"Gailen's Pride" without a hyperdrive is sending a distress call, with no long range coms. The local coms are picking up other ships that also dropped out of hyperspace in the same vicinity.  Over the course of two days a small flotilla of vessels is formed.  The Oz Guardians hear from a vessel towards the edge that a ship has come to pick them up.

That vessel, "The Cal-Van", is taking on refugees and supplies. Then asking the people to abandon their ships.  Gailen is concerned for the crucial data he has on Collapsar. He knows that it is far more data than the stores on the "Cal-Van" can hold.  When the crew of the rescue ship are hesitant to take up extra space by allowing the "Pride" to dock internally the Guardians ask them to take the other refugees somewhere safe, and come back for them when they have room for the "Pride."

During this exchange, the passengers of "Gailen's Pride" are informed they have been out here for 28 days, though only 2 days have passed for them. Gailen supposes that it because of time dilation effects from being so close to the event horizon of Collapsar.

Onyx meanwhile is reviewing her database for technical specs on this type of hyperdrive. She finds that she could probably repair the busted propulsion if she had replacement parts and tools.  A few quick sensor sweeps of the flotilla identifies a Star Navy transport ship, decommissioned to civilian use, nearby that may have the parts.

Gailen is concerned because his sensors are showing odd signatures from the ship, but on top of that, there is a hyperdrive capable ship that seems to be moving through the flotilla and refuses to connect via radio. Likely scavengers and opportunists.

Onyx and Qing Long teleport onto the transport, finding the environment safe they transport back with extra space suits. A few moments later the entire team is onboard the ship. Emergency lighting, the occasional odd sound, and then something that sounds like foot steps at deliberate times leaves the men spooked.

Making their way down towards the engine room their environmental sensors go off, though none are affected. The ship announces it has enabled anti-hijack systems.

At the engine room, they find it sealed, but are able to easily bypass that by teleporting through the door.  In the engine room they find the parts they need are there, and not broken.  Working quickly the ship gives them one more warning to cease. When the Oz Guardians refuse the stepping sounds and heat signatures seem to engulf the bulkhead leading away from the engine room.

Then mechanical spiders with lasers on their backs flood into the room.  The Guardians make quick work of these robotic minions. That is when the ship tells them they have two minutes to cease before a critical reactor failure.  At that announcement, Stone rips the last piece out and the team teleports away just as the navy transport self-destructs.

Gailen pilots his Pride away from the flotilla to avoid the potential pirates and scavengers.  The entire team works together to repair the hyperdrive. With Onyx leading from a technical perspective, Mobius acting like a lathe and spindle, Qing Long using her fire and water alternatively as needed for fine detail work and welding while Stone fashioned the required tools from spare metal.  With a working drive Gailen says they should go to Min-Tath, a nearby Lor Republic world.

The Oz Guardians then go into Hyperspace proper for the first time, a silver-ish void that seems to have clouds, eddies, and currents. Gailen explains it's like another dimension they travel through to shorten distances.

Arriving at Min-Tath though they were almost immediately hailed by the local port authority and asked to enter a designated parking orbit. They did as directed until Gailen saw one of the ships parked by the main space station. It belonged the Stellar Khanate, barbaric enemies of the Republic.  They radio port authority and ask about the "Cal-Van" and are told it was registered lost to a Grue assault a few weeks ago.

When the Guardians then suggest going to Earth Gailen explains that's too far, nearly two weeks.  Instead, he thinks they would be best to go to Citadel, home of the Star Knights and the most powerful computer he is aware of.

Escaping Min-Tath, and its Stellar Khanate occupying force by "punching it" when on the opposite side of the planet, Gailen sets course for Citadel and they arrive a few hours later.

Upon arrival, they are hailed and have to follow the typical security protocols for Citadel. However, they can see hundreds of other vessels in orbit of this small moon sized world.  Most of that world is taken up by a vast city. The rest is filling up with what could be called a "tent city" of temporary housing, broken down ships, and lost people.

When Mentor, the intelligence of Citadel, identifies that Humans Enhanced are on the "Pride" they are given a priority clearance.  Once on the surface, Gailen asks them to start working on the data he collected spying on and researching Collapsar; he truly feeling there might be a key to stopping the living force of entropy.

While one drone of Mentor is talking with Gailen another comes to speak with Oz Guardians. Asking if they are associated with the Freedom League or Daedalus. When they reply no Mentor offers to take them to him, as he is currently on Citadel.  While walking and taking transport to where Daedalus is Mentor is asked about the "Cal-Van" and he confirms that the "Cal-Van" had not arrived there.

Mentor then went on to explain how it was very likely now a Grue vessel used by the protean shape-shifters to lure on refugees from the ongoing conflicts and have been reported to either space them or take them away for some as yet unknown purposes.

The Oz Guardians then meet with Daedalus who at first is shocked to see them alive. Explaining that the world thought them dead.  Lost when Tellax transported them to a world being consumed by a black hole. Daedalus shared that Mars and others identified a blocking signal to jam the nanites and force Tellax from Earth.  Then a group of other heroes in Emerald City took up the mantle of "The Sentinels" to try to continue defending the city.

When the Guardians asked about the rest of the League the answer was they were all spread out.  As soon as Magna Lor was destroyed two long time foes of the Republic launched offensives. With most of the military lost already trying to stop Collapsar it didn't take long for the Khanate to start annexing most of the systems. Meanwhile, the Grue have been marching inward conquering worlds. Some of those have even asked the Khanate for help, not expecting anything from the Republic.

The Oz Guardians expressed a desire to find the Cal-Van and get revenge on the Grue, and possibly rescue any refugees are still on board.  Daedalus said he would help them get a ship with some stealthiness, and try to find them a pilot. He then offered them to send messages back to Earth. Though it takes 2 weeks for a ship to travel the distance transmissions can get there much faster.

We left the session with the team planning on how they would deal with the Grue. And, how to get home.

Session 17 - Event Orizon
June 15th, 2017

The Guardians have been transported to a strange and alien world. Around them are scared looking aliens, and humans, all moving towards spaceports. Above them the evidence of a battle in orbit.  Sent here by Tellax, but to what end?

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant – The Elephant went into a fuque state after the transport. Able to be guided, but not responsive.

NPCs of Note:

  • "Gul-Sar" - A Grue Spy – Deceased by Suicide Bomb
  • Gailen – Scientist for the Lor Republic
  • Captain Kan-Ro – Lorian Security Chief – Assumed Dead with Destruction of Magna-Lor
  • Mentat Ell-Va – Mentat of the Lor Senate – Assumed Dead with Destruction of Magna-Lor
  • Supreme Praetor Ram-Lev – Leader of the Reuplic's Senate and Military - Assumed Dead with Destruction of Magna-Lor
  • Orizon – Voice of the Void – Continues to Exist
  • Collapsar, The Devourer – Continues to Exist
  • Tellax, The Redeemer – Exists, but forced off earth

As Tellax transported the guardians it "spoke" to them in their heads saying it was needed to see why he desired an army, champions.  Above them in the sky a battle was waging in orbit. Able to make out explosions and the occasional "meteor shower" as debris connected with the atmosphere.

People, already scared, many packed with bags and carrying children, were startled by the team's appearance. Some military showed up, but before shots were fired a "Mentat" was able to establish communication and put up a translation field for all of the Guardians.

Taken to the Republic Senate chamber where people were trying to work out the last ditch defense plans, all failing. The group was told how the "Star Gods" had created the Lor, and their off shoots like Humanity, to make up for creating Death. And, now Death was attacking Magna-Lor capital world of the Lor Republic.

Above them currently, and approaching horizon a giant sentient black hole called "Collapsar," and its acolytes, were assaulting Magna-Lor with the intent to consume it into the singularity.

The Lor were disappointed to find they were not friends of Daedalus and the Freedom League, word was their ship was damaged, or lost, on the way to Magna-Lor to help with the defense.

After that info exchange a Grue, Shape Shifting, assassin tried to murder the leader of the republic. The team stopped him. The Supreme Praetor then spoke with "Gailen" a scientist who had been collected data on Collapsar, but just hadn't had the time or processing power to fully review it. Right after that Orizon, Herald of the Void, showed up and proclaimed the world tainted by the corrupters. And that it was to be cleansed.

The team starts to be defeated by Orizon, who for most of the conflict seemed to be exerting little. Tellax asked the team if they understand, they respond with basically "Get us out of here!"  Mid-Transport though, able to see the tunnel they are being transported through, due to time dilation from gravity effects, they can see the battle on the other side. Stormers, heroes, villains and people they don't recognize are battling the giant mecha version of Tellax. Over the team communicators Max says, sadly, "If you are out there, I'm sorry." and suddenly the tunnel closes. The team back in the senate chambers on Magna Lor, empty of most of the people there previously.

Orizon was gone, but not Gailen. The team go to Gailen's ship, take on what women and children they can. Even as tidal forces start to affect the world even more. They can see things flying upward on the horizon and the rush of air as the atmosphere is tugged towards the giant spinning black and red maw of Collapsar.

Luckily Gailen's ship eventually is able to break free, but at the cost of his "Hyper Drive" and we left with the ship sending out an SOS signal and seeing possibly hundreds more nearby.

After the revelation of Tellax, and Stormers definitely under the control of some outside force; likely Tellax.  The Guardians work to find a solution.

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant

NPCs of Note:

Now with a cannister of nanites and the revelation of Tellax the team does some quick debriefing of the Brande agents and the people who were under control at the oil rig.  Meanwhile, the support staff found the loop back that would allow the control built into the nanites from the storm. It appeared to use the Delta Waves observed before.  Additionally they identified how the nanites activate along with several other technical specs.

With that information in hand Mars and the Guardians go to his facility under one of his oldest Mars Tech buildings.

Mars revealed the fragment of Tellax he'd used to build his professional, and former criminal, empire on.  It appeared to possibly have transported something in a cockpit area.  Mars begins work on a way to block the nanites, and possibly Tellax.

As everyone is working on it together the ground literally starts to shake all around them.  The metal groaning and popping before finally breaking loose. Tellax was lifting the building above the bunker, which was 30 feet below the building.

Swarming down from the hole above were more controlled Stormers (See above). They seemed to be moving to secure the large part of Tellax and Mars himself.

The team quickly began to dispatch them, few left standing after just a minute or so.  At that point Tellax projecting into the Guardians' minds, "You must know why I do these things."

A flash of light and nausea later the team find themselves on an alien world surrounded by frightened people and creatures above them the stars twinkled with a large conflict in orbit.

Session 15 - Sinking Feeling
June 15th, 2017

The Oz Guardians follow up on clues collected about the cannister of nanites, and go out to Point Phorcys, an oil rig, 20 miles off the coast, converted into a research facility.  Now under the ownership of Brande Management.  On approach, The Guardians realized there was a fight already underway.

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant

NPCs of Note:

A massive battle was underway between more silver-eyed and controlled, Stormers against Brande Management forces working with Ultramarine.  However, it looked like it was a loosing battle with the super structure and overall facility taking the brunt of the damage.

The Oz Guardians joined the fray. Their arrival eventually turning the tide of battle, but not before the structure had received even more damage. The Helipad Tower and main deck irrevocably destroyed.  As the battle seemed to be all but over, only two of the Stormers still standing, Washout and Tenfold, the entire facility suddenly started to shake violently.

Qing Long and Ultramarine focused on getting Brande Management teams onto the Chariot.  Less than a minute later the entire rig suddenly shifted to one side and sounds of something below displacing massive amounts of water was heard.

As the Chariot began to pull away from the wreckage a giant sphere rose from the ocean, easily 250 feet across, the alien craft marred by battle of eons past still cast an imposing visage.  A wave of sensation of dread and electrification went over Elephant, Mobius, and Stone before everyone heard this presence's announcement.

“Too long I waited to gather the forces I require. No longer distract me with your misguided attempts to control or hinder the army I have built! Continue, and the consequences will be dire for both you and this planet. Cease these distractions and you may all yet survive.

I now depart to confirm status, and will return.

So speaks Tellax, the Redeemer!”

It then hovered a moment as it appeared, and felt, to gather energy before disappearing as a bolt of energy into the sky.

Shaken, the Oz Guardians in their heavily loaded Chariot began the trip back to Emerald Tower.

Session 14 - Ghost Stories
June 14th, 2017

A distress call from Valor brings the team face to face with a ghost assaulting Red Shift Technologies.  It was during this fight that Qing Long revealed her superstitions and brought her "American ghost bag" with salt and other things that helped the team run off the silver eyed ghost-thing.

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant

NPCs of Note:

The item that was of most interest to the ghost was a canister that Red Shift had acquired from Point Phorcys Research Group.  Red Shift and the team determined that their had been at one time been two canisters, though the Red Shift accounting system had been modified by an outside force to hide the missing one.  The last time it had actually been checked in was just a week or two before the Silver Storm.

The team took the canister back to the tower and locked it down in a clean room. Using robotics the team, and support staff, opened the canister to reveal it was filled with nanites… just like those used to cause the first Silver Storm.

The Cryptids attack Emerald Tower!  Spurned by the theft of their Silver Tree's heart stone, rendering it powerless. The charge was led by Wendell and Black Vulture.

Players:

  • Elizabeth – Onyx
  • Kellie – Qing Long
  • Matt – Mobius
  • Richard – Mr. Stone
  • Rick – The Elephant

NPCs of Note:

Stone spent the better part of the previous day and night with Mongoose who led him through the maze of the underground, walking past the Dark Market of the Underground.  She showed him various camping locations of something monstrous with large claws that had been working its way towards the city from the Arcadian Forests. Warning him that word was they were coming for the Oz Guardians.

The next day Stone spent the morning at the garage, then getting food. Qin Long was at her gallery. The rest of the Guardians were at the base on a conference call discussing the legal actions and results. That's when the tower was attacked by Wendell, Vulture and two allies.  All the Guardians came to the fight, and eventually calmer heads prevailed and the fighting subsided.

Wendell explained that the Silver Tree, the thing he guarded, had been killed when the heart was taken from it by a woman in Commander armor. This was the name that Max Mars had used when he was a villain before the Terminus Invasion of the 90s. With her was another Cryptid, or Stormer, with super speed. That led Wendell to fear that the Guardians had betrayed him.

With emergency services and AEGIS arriving the Cryptids left, with help, and AEGIS helped with a cover story of an attack by former FOE member looking for retribution named "Captain Destroyo."

The Elephant, with Mars confirming his findings, discovered that "Stormer" radiation permeated the city. Mars will work on a proximity detector that is more accurate when close up on identifying Stormers.

  • Lord Etheric
  • Prince & Long, Attorneys

Most of FOE's attempts focused on Dreadnought and Epiphany Jones.  The legal resources that the Guardians, and Max Mars, were able to assemble have kept the villains in jail for now.

However, one has been swearing innocence since the day of the storm; Octoman. He claims to have no memories of him losing control after the storm.

Onyx also met with Lord Etheric, offering him a chance to redeem himself. He declined to say he relished in the new power he had, even if he's encountered a few setbacks.
